Design, Control and Automation of MHPP - An Experimental Setup

In this paper the design, manufacturing and automation of a micro hydroelectric power plant (MHPP) prototype has been carried out. The experimental setup consists three 1 kW synchronous generators (SGs) working in synchronization with each other grid, Pelton turbines single nozzle manufactured using 3D printer, water tank capacity approximately one ton, 5.5 centrifugal pump providing appropriate flow head conditions an 11 driver controlling speed pump. mechanical electrical structure system its scenario are designed to be closest real MHPP. S7-1200 PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) is used order control voltage frequency values according load as well for processes. study, PID method preferred control. It possible monitor whole through SCADA (Supervisory Control Data Acquisition) screens. results have evaluated by obtaining frequency-time, voltage-time, active power-valve opening, excitation current-reactive graphs under different single, local operating modes.
